What should I check before approving an activewear sample?

Approve What You Can See AND What You Can Feel in Motion

Before approving an activewear sample, review both the garment’s appearance and how it performs during actual movement. A sample that looks perfect on a hanger may fail during a squat, lunge, or stretch. Start with the fit on the intended body type or fit model, check key garment measurements against the latest Tech Pack, and confirm they fall within the agreed tolerances.

1

Appearance & Construction Review

Fabric hand feel, stretch, and recovery
Color and shade consistency vs approved swatch
Stitching, seam comfort, and seam stretch
Logo size, position, and application quality
Labels, trims, cups, zippers, and elastics
Overall workmanship and finishing
2

Performance & Movement Checks

Waistband stability and compression
Sports bra support and strap comfort
Squat-proof opacity—especially in lighter colors
Range of motion: squats, lunges, stretching, running

Lab Testing & Documentation

If washing, pilling, colorfastness, or other performance tests are required, review the agreed test results before final approval. Any requested changes should be recorded in the latest Tech Pack or sample comments. Avoid approving a sample based only on verbal instructions—the approved specification becomes the reference for the next development or production stage.
