INLINE QUALITY CONTROL
Contain the recurring defect before it continues through the production line.
If an inline inspection finds the same defect repeatedly, the affected work should be identified and contained first. The process should then be reviewed, corrected, and verified before normal production continues.
Contain affected work
Identify the affected operation, bundle, size, color, or production lot. Separate potentially affected garments or components so the issue does not continue into later stages.
Find the likely cause
Review the defect pattern and check relevant machines, patterns, materials, operator methods, or specifications rather than treating each defective piece as an isolated issue.
Correct and verify
Correct the process, rework or replace affected pieces where appropriate, and recheck newly produced garments to confirm that the correction is effective.
Record the corrective action
Document the issue, affected quantity, action taken, verification result, and prevention step. This provides a clear production record and helps prevent the same defect from recurring later in the order.
Example: recurring seam breakage
Recurring seam breakage may require checking stitch type, thread tension, needle selection, seam allowance, and fabric stretch—not simply repairing individual garments.
Separate affected work before the defect spreads.
Correct the process, not only the visible result.
Communicate significant quality or delivery impacts.
At Call The STYLE, recurring defects found during inline QC can be reviewed before they spread into later production stages. Significant issues affecting quality, specification, or delivery should also be communicated according to the agreed project process.
