Before bulk packing, check: correct number, correct size/color mapping, print contrast, quiet zone, label dimensions, placement, scannability through the bag, wrinkles, reflection, duplicates, and missing labels. A visually correct barcode may still fail to scan. 8 Retail-Ready Packaging: Amazon & Walmart Amazon RequirementsSealed transparent bags, visible and scannable barcodes, and suffocation warnings on bags with openings of five inches or more. Confirm against the seller’s current Amazon account and destination fulfillment center requirements before production. Walmart Fulfillment ServicesQualifying sellable units must carry accepted, visible and scannable product identifiers with GTIN or UPC labels and polybag preparation per published guidance. A package prepared for Amazon should not automatically be assumed to meet Walmart, department-store, boutique, or wholesale requirements. 9 Packaging Specifications & Size Selection DocumentationIn Tech Pack, BOM, or dedicated packaging manual, specify for every component: name, material, dimensions, thickness/GSM, color, printing method, artwork file, print position, finish, closure method, quantity per garment, supplier, certification, testing, and approval status. Also include folding diagram, garment orientation, tissue placement, hangtag/barcode/size-sticker positions, units per inner and master carton, size/color assortment, carton dimensions, gross/net weight, carton marks, and pallet requirements. Include photos of the approved packed sample in the production file. Size SelectionPackaging should fit the folded garment without excessive empty space or damaging compression. Oversized packaging increases material use, carton size, freight volume, fulfillment fees, storage space, and wrinkling. Too-small packaging causes creasing, distorted bra cups, damaged zippers, excessive pressure on transfers, bag tearing, and difficult repacking. Develop around actual folded garment dimensions—not only around a standard supplier bag size. 10 Shipping Cost ControlRight-size garment bags, reduce unnecessary inserts, avoid oversized rigid boxes, standardize a small number of bag sizes, optimize folding, remove excess air, improve carton assortment, and select stronger but lighter materials.
